\ Modern Trends in Inorganic Chemistry

About MTIC Symposium Series

The Symposium on "Medern Trends in Inorganic Chemistry" (MTIC) had the origin in 1985 in the Indian Association for Cultivation of Science, Calcutta as part of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Indian National Science Academy, New Delhi. It was conceived as a forum for the inorganic chemistry fraternity of the country to meet every two years to focus on the current status and future projections of research in various frontier areas of Inorganic Chemistry both at the national and international levels. Following the meeting in Calcutta, the subsequesnt meetings were held in different institutions in India (please refer to the Table below). The present meeting, to be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, is the thirteenth in the series (MTIC-XIII) that is jointly hosted by IISc and the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR).

The organization of the meeting is essentially directed towards projecting outstanding and significant research carried out in Inorganic Chemistry by scientists in India and abroad with special emphasis to encourage young active researchers. Towards this end, apart from oral presentations, a very important segment of MTIC is its rich and extensive poster presentation program which serves as a medium for communicating fresh results and provides ample opportunities to interact with the authors. The topics covered in this symposium span a wide range in the field of Inorganic Chemistry including some emerging interdisciplinary areas like inorganic materials, bioinorganic chemistry and organometallics in catalysis.
