Our Mission
we are trying to understand structure and dynamics of molecules using different spectroscopic techniques and also trying to understand structural uniqueness of molecular entities in complex biological systems like single cells (cancer and normal) and tissues.
About the emblem
Our group, Laser Spectroscopy Group, is a part of Inorganic and Physical Chemistry (IPC) department of the premier institution of research in India - Indian Institute of Science. A picture of the main administrative building of IISc is shown in the emblem.
Most of our studies are using Raman and Infrared Spectroscopic techniques, that implies we are always probing molecules which are in a state of vibration..... in other words we are exploring science from a 'world' where "everything" is vibrating.
The picture above our logo has a light green peak in the middle representing the laser beam used for inducing Raman scattering. Towards the right, red shifted Stokes and left, blue shifted Anti-stokes has been represented. Below the logo vibrational dephasing is also pictorially represented.
